Space Mates was a game created in 48 hours from scratch for the 2016 Global Game Jam. The Theme for the 2016 Global Game Jam was ‘Ritual’.
The team decided to go for a Rick and Morty styled Alien ‘Mating Ritual’ Game.
The Game itself is a very simple rhythm based game, where you mimic the other alien based on the cues given.
The really exciting part of this game was the fact that all assets (every single one) was created with modelling clay. All animations had to be capture in stop motions at a rate of 15 frames per second.
Each individual character in the game has around 300+ still frames of animations that had to be taken, cut out and assembled in engine.
The Environments were created the same way, assets where modelled photographed and assembled in engine.
